Well, hopefully everything works out on Friday because I am planning on cooking some Wild Turkey bourbon marinated steak. Yes, the bottle in the picture is the same one I plan on using for the steak. The big thing is that hopefully the 101 proof bourbon isn't too strong.

I bought Command and Conquer: Generals today, and tried playing it just now, and got smoked. Needless to say I will probably have to play it a little more before I can get used to it. But I need to get my resume done, and I need to work more on my web html website. Main problem is that I only know for the most part basic html. :(

I have a question for people to give me an answer for if they feel like giving one. Either email me here or else leave a comment.

Here's the question: If there wasn an open cash register with no one around it. Would you take money from it?

I will explain more on this tomorrow or the next time I post in this.

Well, I finally grew some balls this weekend. I have been doing the bar runner position and being a porter for this hotel. The job had it's good things, and it's bad things. Now, the good thing is that I learned how to setup a bar, and learn a good amount of drinks.

Let's put it this way, I didn't know what the hell amaretto was before. Now I know how to make drinks from "Liquid Cocaine" (amaretto, SoCo) to a couple different variations of "Sex on the Beach"

The bad is that I had to put up with some good people to work with, and some people that make me wonder if there are even bricks as dense as they are. But the problem is that the managers weren't learning anything when I did all of the bills stuff and turned in the bill to the front desk. So I told them I am done being bar runner except for the Tyson Meat Ed bars, because they have their own bartender, and I am the only one who knows how to do the set up for it right.

If this means I am no where ready to be a manager that is fine with me. I have put in way too many late nights without any extra incentive. They offered me a Banquet Supervisor spot a while ago, but I didn't take it because of the fact that they offered the spot to others before me because the others said that I was the better person for the spot.

The biggest thing that cause me to do this was that the last Banquet Event Order meeting a lot of fuss was brought up. I for the most part was blamed for the screwing up one bill, and I had enough of it. Also, when the General Manager questions whether I can be professional when cutting someone off or not, especially when they never have to cut anyone off ever, GETS ON MY NERVES!

I need to get my resume finished so that I can send it into the two jobs I seen open and advertised at school. This way I will get out of the fucking hell that is the Marina Inn.

Until next time, this is the last call.

Well, I need to finally decide to work on the cover letter, and send it into the place asking for the resume/cover letter combination. I hate resumes and cover letters, but are important anymore getting a good job. The better you do on them, the better your chances of getting the job you would prefer.

Also, it has been good to see one of my cousin's from CO. They came over here for a week, and left with some contraband if ya want to call fireworks that aren't allowed in CO. Last year they took about 2 good sized boxes of big firework back there, but this year they didn't have the connections to get as much. So this year their town won't burn down. My cousin bought a new guitar while over here. Maybe when my car is paid off I might get a guitar...maybe.

Sunday, June 20, 2004

I would say the only good thing about tonight was that I got out of work before 2AM. Otherwise the upper managers have yet to prove they have a gear in their head that works. I ask for one day off because I have relatives who are in town from Colorado. I made the mistake of it being a day with 2 bars and thinking that how I was setting them up would work for them...

WRONG

And not to mention the whole space was a mess. The assistant manager still lacks brain function because again they sorted out the money for the 150 drop as $1's and $5's without any quarters. But atleast I am there to help them out...lucky me.

I think our biggest cash bar since losing the assistant manager a couple of months ago was probably between $1000 and $2000.

But then again nothing is better than the people who go up to the bars and complain about the prices. Here's tonights occurance.

C1: I will take a draw and a Coke.

Me: *pours the free glass of Keg beer and gets a Coke* That's $1.50.

C1: This beer is free and it is a $1.50.

C2(Right next to C1): How much does a shot of SoCo cost.

Me: *gets his free keg beer* $4.00

C2: What? It cost $2 in the restaurant upstairs.

Me: Highly doubt it, but it cost $4.00 down here.

And then I was talking to the Food and Beverage director while him, and the closing bartender were cleaning up in the restaurant. He said the shot was $5 in the restaurant. I told him the story about the guy downstairs, and the bartender mentioned about a customer they had who was past their limit and not getting anymore drinks. This customer asked if he could call a cab for them. The bartender said sure and called the cab service. And said it would be half an hour. About 50 minute later the same guy asked about the cab, and the bartender said it was probably downstairs waiting about 10 minutes ago. The guy asked he never mentioned anything, the bartender said they could only call them because the restaurant is no where near the front entrance. The guy then goes off about the service, and the bartender shoots back with comments about the tips he recieved from said customer.

The big moral of the storyline is that the bartender and server pay in the bars and restuarants is pretty shitty without the tips. So please tip your bartender, and you will be happy.

Work wasn't too bad, the owner of the hotel I work at had a retirement party for one of the workers for one of his construction companies. The manager overreact thinking that the owner was pissed off when the setup wasn't what they expected, but due to it moving inside because of rain there wasn't much choice. He came into the back area and asked if there was someone who could be a spare bartender. I said I could, and asked if I should switch into a white dress shirt and tie. He said I was fine the way I was, in a black polo instead of the usual white shirt. So I went down there and helped the bartender just because the owner asked for some help. After a while, I talked to the bartender and decided to let the banquet captain get some bar experience.

Over all not too bad of a night. One more day til Friday, and a day off!

Well, some stuff has happened since the last time I put anything into this blog. I managed to piss some people off. But they were most likely just wondering what the hell just happened.

Here's the story, after clss on Thursday I decided to go into the college's cafeteria, and sit down at one of the tables facing a window that faces the trees off the South or West side of the college. I started drawing and was listening to my iPod. I think about 15 to 20 minutes pass by and two girls walk up and sit down at the table for no reason. They started talking to each other, and I could hear them, but then they started talking to me a little. The only problem I had with the situation was that they were also talking with people all the way across the cafeteria at another table. Then someone from the other table came to mine, and I mainly decided to fuck it wrote something down said bye and left. Usually this stuff doesn't bother me, but for some reason I just felt that it was the normal send some friends over and then I will join them later...

Well, I am sorry, but if someone is too afraid to either come over with their friends to talk, they won't get anywhere with me. I won't be surprised if I see these people again probably. Next time, I will probably be a little more polite, but at that moment in time, it just ticked me off.

Over the weekend, I had to prove why I could have more intelligent conversations with brick walls. The assistant manager was across the street working on a party over there. Later on when it was over they came back with the money drop bag, and the money that the bar at the wedding made. Well, they were going to drop the money and everything, but they forgot to put the money amount without tax into the program on the computer to get the bill. Saying that "they know what they are doing!" And it took me about ten times telling them about the bill before they realized. "Hey, I forgot the bill!" ARGH! And then to make it even better, they didn't put any quarter into the drop bag to weight it down so that it will fall into the drop box. Fun stuff...

Sunday, the Servers still complained that the Porters only work when the head chef comes down stairs. Well, I have to say that everyone in the banquets department amazingly learn to work together when I get pissed off. The only good thing about Sunday was that the wedding party deided to end it early since most of their people were gone by 8:30 at night. That also made it easier for their pocket book because I took security off the bill since they come in at nine and leave at either midnight or one.

Monday, I had the day off, but I screen phone calls because I am the bar runner, and I usually set up a groups bar because all you need is their liquor, some beer, and glass. This is because they bring in their own bartender. But the thing is that they had a bottle of Glenlivit Scotch that was low at their last meeting. They decided to get new bottle in case they needed it. And I charged them for it since I had to go get it. The I get a phone call about it from the same manager on Sunday. I had to tell them about 5 times that it was already paid for.

And Yesterday was completely fine other then me being tired in the afternoon when it was muggy and hot outside.

Today, rainy and down to 59 degrees. I will have to wait five minutes for a weather change ;)

NP: "Circle" by Slipknot

Infact, in recent rock/METAL news....

Slipknot save Metallica at Download!

Metallica's drummer, Lars Ulrich, got sick and couldn't perform at the Download Festival 2004, yes Metallica at Download Festival 2004 has to be an oxymoron. But Slipknot's Joey Jordison and Slayer's drummer had the chacne to take his place. Slayer's did the first song, and Metallica was liking it. Then Joey came in, and played for three songs. Than the Metallica drum tech tried, but they went back to Joey right after, instead of others willing to try to play the drums. Joey(#1) mask, and two piece jumpsuit and played wiht Metallica, and impressed them enough to keep him behind the drums for the rest of the songs.

Metallica's setlist:(Joey Jordison unless noted)

  1. Battery (Dave Lombardo)
  2. Four Horsemen (Dave Lombardo)
  3. Whiplash
  4. For Whom the Bell Tolls
  5. Creeping Death
  6. Am I Evil
  7. Seek and Destroy
  8. Last Caress
  9. Fade to Black (Flemming, the drum tech)
  10. Wherever I may Roam
  11. Sad But True
  12. Nothing Else Matters
  13. Enter Sandman

One more thing just before I go to bed. The lead singer for Sonic Youth atleast had to be high. If he wasn't high he was on something. that is all.

Well, for those who maybe new to my blog...

I will finally explain the reason I have it titled this way. Anymore my main belief in life is that there is no such thing as "normal." There is a reason for this, and let tell show you why.

nor·mal(P)Pronunciation Key (nôrml)
adj.
Conforming with, adhering to, or constituting a norm, standard, pattern, level, or type; typical: normal room temperature; one's normal weight; normal diplomatic relations.

Now my question is when has there been a norm, a standard, a pattern, level or type?

Norm is denoted of any and all credit because it is a part of the word normal. Standard sound too much like someone is going to come around and cut a couple of inches off of the tall person. And add those inches to the shorter person so that everyone is the same height. And to a degree do the same when it come to weight. A pattern means that it has to be the same or keep evolving that way so I will refer you to my definition of standard. Level? Ummmm So life is a game and you are fighting the boss to make it to the next level? Please blow my brains out now. And Type? TYPE! That enough should explain that.

Now if you look at society today, everyone around is different. No one listens to the same music, wheres the same clothes, has the same face, hair color, style or skin color or type. Hey look there's type again! Which comes to why I believe there is no such thing as normal, because society can't even agree on one little thing!

I can see it now, wait society doesn't agree on money? Nope, there are people who could careless about money. If you look in third world countries, sure they don't have much money, but they get a long fine with being in the open and living in humble conditions. They are the truly the strongest people in the world today.

All I can say is that some people don't think before they do. Or else when they think, it is that they are too afraid of getting in trouble. The big question is why put these people into management positions?

And now some questions that could be considered as one that came right out left field....

What is the speed of dark?

If a tree falls in the forst, and no one is there to hear it...did it make a sound?

I am predicting quite a bit of backlash soon coming after this post. Mainly, I am going to say I should have gone with the Tampa Bay Lightening during the NHL Stanley Cup Finals instead of the Calgary Flames.

*dodges red hot pokers*

The reason for this is because a player that resides from Sioux City, IA! My hometown is the US Hometown for Ruslan Fedotenko. Infact, the main reason that is his hometown is because he played for the local USHL hockey league. The thing is that this hockey league now mostly has high school students playing to get scholarships to Colleges for Hockey, or to make it to the NHL. There have also been rumors that he might bring the Stanley Cup to Sioux City for his one day with the trophy. Personally I say I will believe it when I see it, because this guy can go anywhere...why would he want to go to the middle fo a corn field.

NWA TNA is some good wrestling, and entertainment, but the 6 sided ring had to go.

The Tampa Bay Lightening won the Stanley Cup, and Mr. Bettman probably has doubled his security. Calgary came out of no where this season and kicked some royal ass. Congrats to them, and hopefully next year the Lord Stanley's Cup will return to its rightful owners. A Canadian hockey team.

I am going to be applying for a different job, and if I get it I will probably quit my other one. The only problem is that it seems like they have a worse turnover ratio than my place of work. But when you have people whose attitudes are getting old( you being the big one on your own list.) Something has to change, and hopefully I get the job, and keep it for a while.

Oh yeah, Go Pistons! Unfortunately the Timberwolves couldn't stop Lakers, but Hopefully the East finally gets the big trophy this year.

Wednesday, June 02, 2004

Summer classes have started, and I still need to pay for my classes before I get the notice that "if you don't pay this money within such a time you will automatically be dropped from all classes...blah blah blah"

I will give people one big tip when going into college. If you are going to be a full time student, get a part time job. That way you have money for books, and other assorted stuff. But still have time to do work and be able to make it to classes. I fucked this up, because for a while I was a full time worker and student, and have royally fucked up in classes. It will have taken me 4 and half semesters to get what is supposively a 2 year degree. Another thing is to take the 17 or whatever number of credits they say to take. Because if you just take the bare minimum for credits to be a full time student, you will take twice the time needed.

I admit that I screwed up by slacking off, and also not taking enough classes. It has costed me money, and my GPA shows the damage. Mainly, this is a realization because I was asked by a co-worker who I walked to their car because of security reasons. And they mainly asked if I was completely out of my mind for doing it. As I look back on it, I don't think I was ever in completely in my mind. Because have the time I had to drop/withdraw from a class because of my own personal stupidity.

But I am currently taking Web HTML(online course), and Operating Systems 2 (Monday through Thursday class) that discusses Linux. So maybe, I will learn how to run a Web Server from this class.

Until next time, I am going to be sitting here for a little while longer and then going to bed.

The whole Michael Moore and the Berg issue to me is null and void. Michael Moore is an idiot, and I pulling this from a post I made at a message board I am a member of.

I really can't comment on his movies styles, or anything because I don't trully think I seen one of his movies. Plus the fact that when I heard of the title of the movie "Bowling for Columbine." I automatically dismissed the credentials of any director because of the fact that they are just pulling the strings of people about this issue in their advantage.

As I said, it is just my views on this situation because some people can't get anywhere on their own merit, and have to use the most talked about news to get their movie over.

That is about as much as you will get out of me on this issue. As far as I am concerned, these two better just go get a room.
